How have you been faring these past few days? In the midst of all this recession talk, what are you doing?
If I could equate recession into something that would describe it aptly, it would be hardship. Because it truly is, most especially if you could not, would not, and have a hard time adjusting to changes. True, in its meanest sense, recession is an economic downfall; the slowing down of the nation’s economy for six months to a year. Should it get worse and progress to depression, consecutive quarters of poor Gross Domestic Product, the indicator of the overall economic state, (GDP of approximately 18%) control, that I do not want to happen.
Having known the textbook definition of what recession is, let’s see what is recession for you. Seeing what is recession for you and accepting it as a challenge can mean the difference to your life forever. It’s all in the mindset you have. If you think recession is a time of hardships then you will experience hardships. But if you think recession is a chance to uplift your business because everybody is down, then you will fly high gloriously. By knowing what it is for you shows you subconsciously what you are feeling and wishing for. Look deeply into yourself. Only if you know what you truly want would you be able to set that goal as your priority and work towards it. No matter how cliché this must seem, your future is up to you.
The recession effect that we experience now shouldn’t be blamed on anybody. The causes of Economic Recession are a normal part of the business cycle: weakening stock market, decreasing factory production, increasing interest and unemployment rates and the slumping personal income of the citizens. In time, the economy would bounce up and be as good as new, or even better. The government offers stimulus packages to urge people to buy and sell. If we think about it, recession has been the stimulus that we need. What time is better than now in reorganizing your life and sorting your priorities? Recession has made us see which is important from whose we can live without.
In the middle of this financial slump, people are wagging on and on about jobs recession proof. There is no foil for failure nor for success. There is no certainty to anything. However, think that time is of the essence. For time is our friend. During this recession, we must be the captain of our ships. We mustn’t let that fish that bit the bait drag us along. There are many opportunities in this time of recession. We just haven’t looked into it yet. Doors have closed buy windows have opened. Thus the question, are there really recession proof businesses?
It is not a matter of is there or is there not. It is about gaining, holistically, at this time, what recession all has to offer; making use of the time. It is either being with your company or setting up you own, be it small or not, in a spot you are comfortable at. It is working at home, with the least possible expenses that you can concur, with the least amount of capital you could spend. That what makes up those recession proof businesses that are popping up with a vengeance this season.
